FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • Why go to an independent broker?

Most Canadians get their financial planning advice at the bank where you only have access to that institution’s products. For example, if you go to Bank “A”, you can only have Bank “A”s products. At an independent brokerage like Prospera Solutions, you have access to Bank “A”, plus many of their competitors. This benefits you because it gives us more options to design a custom plan that’s right for you.

As an independent broker your business means a lot to me. Prospera Solutions is not a large institution with hundreds of thousands of clients. We go out of our way to make sure our clients feel comfortable working with us, and they receive the exclusive professional guidance and service they deserve.

  • What is a Financial Coach?

Working with a Financial Coach on your personalized financial plan is like working with a personal trainer. When you hire a personal trainer, you get more out of their knowledge and expertise if you work with them and implement their strategies. You could always read fitness books and research personal training tips, but you will reap more benefits by working on your fitness plan with a trainer. Even professional athletes have personal trainers when they’re already in peak physical condition.

The same is true for a Financial Coach. At Prospera Solutions, We utilize our knowledge and experience in working with you to construct a plan to meet your unique needs. We will be with you every step of the way, to answer all of your questions and concerns, and to guide you through implementing and maintaining your financial plan.

  • How do you get paid?

All of our professional financial planning advice is free and offered with no obligation on your part to implement any or all of our recommendations. If you decide to purchase a product based on our recommendations that could help your financial plan then we receive commissions on the investment and insurance products, so there is no cost to you.

For those who retain the services of our Certified Divorce Financial Analyst or Registered Collaborative Professional, an hourly rate is charged. The hourly rate varies based on time spent for consultation and file preparation, travel time, and court time.

  • How do we get started?

Just call or email us to let me know you are ready to meet. Our initial meeting will be approximately 1 – 1.5 hrs to help us understand your current financial picture, what risks could impact you financially, your short-term and long-term financial goals are, and what concerns you most about your finances.

  • What is the financial planning process?

Planning for your success starts with your first call to me and together we will then:

    • Discuss and establish your goals and objectives
    • Gather relevant data
    • Identify risks and opportunities
    • Analyze and present solutions
    • Guide you through the decision making process
    • Implement your plan

But the process doesn’t stop there. Regular reviews and check-ins are necessary to make sure your plan is on track to meet your goals and address any changes to your financial situation.
